In four short sessions, this workshops series aims at proving information and inspiration on how to build, expand and maintain your international network in order to boost your international (academic) career.
In order to complete, you have to attend all four sessions.

03.11. - Session 1: Funding and Grants DE, EU and beyond - Overview on different funding opportunities and strategies

10.11. - Session 2: International Science Communication Workshop on methods and techniques to promote you and your
                               research

17.11. - Session 3: Building an International Network - Insights for former joint-PhDs, post-docs etc. from different career
                               stages and the benefits of international exchanges

24.11. - Session 4: Cultural Brokerage and Adjusting to Different Work Cultures Insights into how to prepare yourself for your
                               international journey and tips on how to better adjust at your destination

Hosts

  • The University of Bayreuth’s Gateway Offices are designed to serve as contact points to support the exchange of Bayreuth’s students and instructors. They enhance cooperation in research and teaching, establish and maintain contact with institutions in science and industry, and manage the University of Bayreuth’s networks in their respective regions.
  • Bayreuth-Melbourne Colloid/Polymer Network links the University of Bayreuth with non-university research institutions within Germany, two outstanding Australian universities, and other industry partners. The goal is to use close, long-standing contacts and complementary scientific expertise as a basis for supporting junior researchers, providing them with a broader understanding and valuable experience and rendering the complementary expertise of all project partners accessible in order to open up more career opportunities.
  • The University of Bayreuth Graduate School supports doctoral candidates of all disciplines and provides necessary services surrounding a doctorate. Membership is open to all doctoral candidates of the faculties and graduate centres of the University of Bayreuth. The aim of the University of Bayreuth Graduate School is to foster an international, national and interdisciplinary network and to ensure and further develop university-wide quality standards during the doctorate.

For reasons of respect and fairness towards all participants and the workshop leaders, participants who miss more than 10% of the workshop are considered not to be present. You will therefore not receive a certificate and you will not be able to use the workshop in question to unlock funds or acquire further qualifications.
