Description
Scientific projects are characterised by a high degree of complexity and planning uncertainty. Scientists are often confronted with seemingly insur-mountable hurdles at the beginning of a project, especially when it comes to conducting a PhD project.
Sound project management can help to eliminate these uncertainties and lead to competent project work.
The workshop is aimed at PhD students who are at the beginning of independent project work and would like to plan it stringently. It teaches the basics of project management and offers methods for initiating, planning and structuring project work. Participants have the opportunity to draw up their own individual project plan.
Qualification Goals
In this workshop, the basics of project management are taught through theoretical considerations and practical exercises.
The participants learn:
- basics of project management in science
- to structure the time of their PhD meaningfully
- to avoid pitfalls in time- and selfmanagement
- to individually reflect upon projectmanagement in the longer term (also after the PhD)
Trainer
- Prof. Dr. Annette Kolb works nationally as a freelance trainer, advisor and coach for academics.
- Her activities focus on strategic topics in order to be successful in academia. Before starting her freelancing work in 2014, she was a professor in the Department of Biosciences at Goethe University Frankfurt.
From 2015-2020 Prof. Kolb was working as a research associate in the science coordination staff of the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung.
