Coaching offer for all career levelsHide

Coaching is a dialogical form of conversation that makes it possible to adopt and develop new perspectives and to overcome supposed limitations in projects, in daily work in science or in personal development by using individual resources and competencies.

"Coaching is a conversational way of picking people up where they are and getting them to where they want to be."

Coaching is therefore neither strenuous reappraisal of the past nor analysis of the exact background and causes that led someone into a stressful situation. Coaching is always goal and solution oriented, because the solution does not care why a problem arose.

The coach is the expert for the process of finding a solution, the coachee is the expert for himself/herself and his/her life. So coaching is neither about training certain skills, nor about giving advice by imparting technical or expert knowledge.

The coaches support young scholars who are facing great challenges or are in conflict situations in one-on-one meetings. The problems are as individual as the people. However, they are always related to the work in science. Solutions arise in the coaching process primarily through the broadening of perspectives and through self-reflection.

Coaching

  • Role clarification and leadership issues, career development, organizational culture and communication, conflicts in teams, work-life balance, team development
  • 3 sessions per year of 90 minutes each (free of charge), depending on career level

Mentoring for junior professorsHide

Mentoring is a personnel development tool to promote the transfer of knowledge between experienced and less experienced people. Mentoring is understood as a self-organized, hierarchically independent relationship between a more experienced person (mentor) and a less experienced person (mentee). The goal of the mentoring relationship is the personal development and career advancement of the mentee.

Within the framework of mentoring, you will be accompanied by professionally experienced mentors over a fixed period of time - the focus is on personal advice and the transfer of experience and informal knowledge. An agreement on the goal is drawn up between mentee and mentor.

Mentoring

  • Personal counseling, transfer of experience and informal knowledge,
  • Generation of perspectives, strategic approach, implementation of action steps, access to networks
  • Individual agreement as needed
  • Contact: Dipl.-Ing. Iris Hetz, +49 921 55-7781, iris.hetz@uni-bayreuth.de
