KlarText-Price for Science Communication 2022
15th December 2021
PhDs from the fields of biology, chemistry, geosciences, computer science, mathematics, neurosciences and physics can submit their text contributions for the KlarText Prize 2022 until February 28, 2022. Applications from scientists from other disciplines who can assign their topic to one of the seven areas are also welcome. The prize winners can look forward to prize money of 7,500 euros per subject area.
"What did you actually do in your doctoral thesis?" - The answer to this question is what KlarText, the Klaus Tschira Foundation's prize for science communication, is all about. The foundation is looking for young researchers who have written a very good doctoral thesis in 2020 or 2021 and explain to a non-scientific audience what they actually did there, in their research. And they do so in the form of a generally understandable article, in German.
What's special about the KlarText Prize is that everyone wins! This is because all applicants - regardless of their ranking - are given the opportunity to take part in a two-day "Science Communication Workshop" organized by the National Institute for Science Communication (NaWik).
The award winners will also work on their text once again with experienced media professionals. These articles are then published in KlarText magazine.
