Description
The internationalisation of many German universities means, on the one hand, more international students and, on the other hand, a growing number of researchers, doctoral students, teachers, guest lecturers and staff from different countries. Diversity in the composition of (research) teams in different fields is increasingly becoming the norm in everyday university life. Successful cooperation in multicultural teams therefore requires developing an awareness of cultural influences on interactions and dealing with these consciously and thoughtfully. In this workshop, the participants will therefore first take a deep look at their own cultural imprints before dealing with various others, and reflect upon as their impact on cooperation and team work. They will learn to recognise the competences and strengths of the team members as well as to perceive the first warning signals for friction in order to be able to act preventively and constructively. They will also learn about different factors that characterise successful multicultural teams. With the help of various interactive exercises, they can work out new possibilities for interaction and strategies that can help them to harness the full potential in the team.
