Meetings, conferences and workshops make up a large portion of work life in and outside academia. This course sets out to equip participants with useful tools to efficiently chair and moderate such events.
To this end, the course tackles three aspects: First, we will cover the ground rules of successful meetings, before focusing in more depth on the specific role and tasks of a moderator. In the second half of the course, we will work on effective solutions for typical problems in group meetings, such as ‘chatterboxes’, off-topic talk, aggression and blockings. The course employs a hands-on approach, and draws on real-life experiences made by its participants.
Qualifcation objective Equipping participants with useful tools for preparing, structuring and moderating meetings they are responsible for.
