On the first day you will learn all the important basics of using MAXQDA and will also receive a sound overview of the transcription of interviews and different methodological approaches for analyzing qualitative data. The analysis procedure of the qualitative content analysis (Kuckartz 2016) is considered more intensively in the context of a small excursion. In the course, different practical examples are presented, which will facilitate the introduction and the adaptation of the contents for your work.

On the second day we will focus on the implementation of mixed methods approaches in MAXQDA, i.e. the combination of quantitative data with qualitative content (e.g. variables, crosstables, code relations and sets). In the last part of the course we will deal with the visualization possibilities and the teamwork in MAXQDA.

Qualification objectives

  • Basics of MAXQDA (data management, working with the codesystem, memos and textretrieval functions)
  • Advanced functions in MAXQDA (working with variables, sets, crosstabs, complex retrieval functions, visualisation and teamwork)
  • 7 steps of a qualitative text analysis (Kuckartz 2018)
