Description
More than ever, the ability to develop fresh ideas, to formulate new questions and to explore uncharted scientific areas are vital to one's professional career. True creativity is key to success in academia and, of course, beyond.
The main goal of this practical webinar is to familiarise you with some best-practice techniques of creative thinking for your scientific work and research. We will learn about the do’s and don’ts of creative thinking, discussing key concepts, such as the ‚inner censor‘ and the ‚diamond of creativity‘.
We will also explore some less know creative techniques, such as ‚oblique strategies‘ and ‘Janusian thinking’. We will practice these techniques in various individual and group exercises. At the end of the workshop, you will have a practical ‚toolbox‘ with various techniques which you can use in your daily work and research.

  • Expanding and contracting‘, ‘design charette’ and other best-practice techniques from design thinking
  • The art of Janusian thinking: Where Einstein and Cubism meet
  • Oblique strategies‘ and other inspiring way to tap into one’s creative potential increase your creative output
  • Best-practice techniques for visualising, drawing and other ways of structuring your ideas
  • Activating the mind and focusing: Best-practice techniques for everyday use
  • Getting into flow and the right mindset: How to steer your individual thought process

Trainer
Michael Gordian is a seminar leader, lecturer and trainer for social and communication skills.

  • He cooperates with numerous German companies and specializes in middle management.
  • Fluent in German, English, Spanish and Russian
  • Doctorate from the Warburg Institute in London (School of Advanced Studies, University of London)
  • Lecturer, among others at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in the field of practical communication skills
  • Regular lecturer, e.g. at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Berlin
  • Trainer at the Goethe Institute Berlin, focus on regional studies
  • Previous activities (selection): Consultant for analysis and communication in university management, project manager in the field of market research

You will therefore not receive a certificate and you will not be able to use the workshop in question to unlock funds or acquire further qualifications.
