Guest Talk by Rob Thompson: Career Strategies for PhDs

Rob has been teaching workshops in our qualification programme for many years with enthusiastic feedback from participants. He will share his thoughts and new perspectives on team building, leadership and communication skills to enhance your career. Get inspired and excited about what’s coming next after your PhD!

About the speaker:

Rob Thompson - Coach, TEDx and Keynote Speaker

Rob has 15 years’ experience working as a coach. He has clients in 7 different countries and they include Europe’s top research institutes (including Charité, 12 Max Planck Institutes, Helmholtz Association, The Spanish National Cancer Research Institute (CNIO), Hannover Medical School and multiple European universities and research institutes).

Rob has developed a unique model explaining multiple aspects of team interaction that has helped thousands of successful people improve their self-confidence and enabled them to persuade more effectively and so manage the inevitable friction that occurs between intelligent motivated creative people in the workplace.

The representatives of the doctoral candidates briefly introduce their work followed by a short Q&A session regarding the next election in June. As a representative, you can actively participate in discussions concerning circumstances of the doctorate at the University of Bayreuth Graduate School Board meetings, the Senate (guest) and Research Associates’ Council and shape conditions for future doctoral cohorts. If you are interesed in becoming one of our next representatives, please contact reps.graduateschool@uni-bayreuth.de.

Afterwards, we invite you to join us for a causal get together at the Glashaus. All doctoral candidates, future doctoral candidates and everybody who wants to have a good time is welcome.
