Day 1 - Procedure and written application

• How do appointment procedures for professorships (tenure-track or lifetime professorships) work? 
  
• What do typical job advertisements look like and what expectations are associated with them?
  
• What should be included in the application documents? 
  
• Writing a good and effective research and teaching concept.
  

Day 2 - The hearing

• The science talk: what is expected?
  
• The committee interview: typical questions and challenges
  
• The teaching test: preparation and skillful implementation
  

Outlook: Appointment negotiations: What can be negotiated?

We will practice the interview and the science talk or whatever is most relevant for the group. Some participants will have the opportunity to practice one of these two parts in the role “applicant”. All others will be “member of the committee”. 

Participants know: 

• How to write an application for a professorship
  
• How to write a research and teaching concept
  
• How to prepare the science talk
  
• What questions to expect in the interview and what answers to give
  
• How to prepare the teaching test.

For reasons of respect and fairness towards all participants and the workshop leaders, participants who miss more than 10% of the workshop are considered not to be present. You will therefore not receive a certificate and you will not be able to use the workshop in question to unlock funds or acquire further qualifications.
