Description:
For many scientists, small talk can feel awkward, artificial – or simply beside the point. And yet: the ability to initiate and sustain professional conversations is often just as crucial as technical expertise.
Whether you're at a conference, applying for a position, or navigating interdisciplinary collaborations – the way you connect with others can open doors that your CV alone cannot.
This hands-on workshop offers a practical and strategic approach to networking, tailored to the needs of researchers and scientists. It also extends beyond academic settings – because fruitful conversations happen everywhere: at receptions, over coffee, and in unexpected places.
Through short exercises, individual feedback and peer interaction, you will learn how to engage with confidence, ask better questions, and communicate your ideas and interests without falling into the trap of self-promotion.
* Creditability within the kick-off seminar
To ensure your actual presence during the webinar, we ask that you have your camera turned on (on your PC/laptop or externally) for the entire duration of the event. This is the only way we can issue you a certificate of participation.
For reasons of respect and fairness towards all participants and the workshop leaders, participants who miss more than 10% of the workshop are considered not to be present. You will therefore not receive a certificate and you will not be able to use the workshop in question to unlock funds or acquire further qualifications.
Before you register, please confirm with your supervisor/employer that you are free to participate in the course on that date.
