Coaching is a dialogical form of conversation that makes it possible to adopt and develop new perspectives and to overcome supposed limitations in projects in daily work in science or in personal development by using individual resources and competencies.
"Coaching is a conversational way of picking people up where they are and getting them to where they want to be."
Coaching is therefore neither strenuous reappraisal of the past nor analysis of the exact background and causes that led someone into a stressful situation. Coaching is always goal and solution oriented, because the solution does not care why a problem arose.
The coach is the expert for the process of finding a solution, the coachee is the expert for themselves and their life. So coaching is neither about training certain skills, nor about giving advice by imparting technical or expert knowledge.
The coaches support young scholars who are facing great challenges or are in conflict situations in one-on-one meetings. The problems are as individual as the people. However, they are always related to the work in science. Solutions arise in the coaching process primarily through the broadening of perspectives and through self-reflection.
